What is CCYL? CCYL is an acronym for the Clinton Chamber Youth Leadership Program. It’s an exciting and progressive youth leadership program that will engage high school students and challenge them to “take charge” of their lives while giving back to their community.
What will participants do? CCYL participants will have fun! Activities and sessions will include learning about personal leadership styles, business etiquette, the history of our city, and entrepreneurship fundamentals. All sessions will be led by experts in their respective fields and participants will have a unique opportunity to be challenged and engaged in ways that will help build future leaders of tomorrow. Students will also become active learners by participating in various community service activities planned throughout the year.
Who can apply?Any Clinton area high school junior or senior is encouraged to apply. This includes students who are established and recognized as leaders among their peers. Individuals who have a keen sense of responsibility, impeccable character, and a willingness to work hard will be perfect applicants for this program. A total of 30 students will be selected for this program. A minimum of a 2.5 GPA is required for entry into the program. All high schools in our city-wide area will be eligible to participate in the program.
How much does it cost? There is no cost other than your time. Students will be given a CCYL t-shirt and will be expected to wear that t-shirt to various community functions.
When does the program begin and end? The program begins in September and will end in April. Students will attend a monthly meeting for an hour as well as attend various community activities.
What is expected of the participants? Students will meet the first Wednesday of every month from 4:30 to 5:30 at the Wood Therapeutic Center. They will also be expected to participate in community service projects throughout the year.
What about transportation? CCYL participants must provide their own transportation to all sessions and events.
