About CCYL

CCYL is an acronym for the Clinton Chamber Youth Leadership Program. It’s an exciting and progressive youth leadership program that aims to engage and challenge high school juniors and seniors to “take charge” of their lives while giving back to their community. In order to focus on these goals, only 30 students are chosen to participate each year.

What will participants do?

CCYL participants will learn, volunteer, and have fun! Activities and sessions will include learning about personal leadership styles, business etiquette, the history of our city, entrepreneurship fundamentals, and many other valuable subjects. All sessions will be led by experts in their respective fields and participants will have a unique opportunity to be challenged and engaged in ways that will help build future leaders of tomorrow. Students will also become active learners by participating in various community service projects planned throughout the year.

Who can apply?

Any Clinton-area rising junior or senior high school student is encouraged to apply, particularly those who are established and recognized as leaders among their peers. Individuals with a keen sense of responsibility, impeccable character, and a willingness to work hard are perfect candidates for this program.

All high schools in our city-wide area are eligible to participate in the program, but all applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be considered.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost associated with participation other than time and transportation. CCYL participants must provide their own transportation to all sessions and events.

What is expected of the participants?

The program begins in September and ends in April. During this time, students will attend monthly, hour-long meetings on the first Wednesday of each month from 4:30-5:30pm at the Wood Therapeutic Center.  Students will also be given an official CCYL t-shirt and will be expected to wear it to various community functions and ad hoc service projects throughout the year.
