Veterans Day Tribute at Clinton Visitor Center

October 25, 2023

On Sunday, November 5, at 2pm, a Veterans Day Tribute will be held to honor all military veterans who have served with courage and compassion in the armed forces of the United States. A patriotic program will be presented on the grounds of the Clinton Visitor Center near the Fallen Comrade Sculpture.

On Veterans Day in 2012, The City of Clinton dedicated the Fallen Comrade sculpture at the Clinton Visitor Center. The bronze sculpture was created by Dr. Samuel Marshall Gore as a tribute to all military veterans. Gore’s rendering depicts two longtime Clinton friends. Marine Joe Albritton is carrying the body of fellow Marine Homer Ainsworth from the battlefield during the Korean War. Also, in the Visitor Center gift shop, you will find the book For Those Who Served: Clintonians in the U. S. Military which makes a wonderful gift.

In 2017, a Veteran Banner Program was created for the community to recognize and honor all Clinton Veterans who have served in the U. S. Armed Forces with courage and compassion. On this patriotic holiday one hundred and thirty-seven Clinton Veterans will be proudly displayed on banners intermixed with American flags. This display extends along the Clinton Parkway from Springridge Road to Northside Drive and from Highway 80 at Springridge Road to Clinton Raymond Road.

The Clinton Visitor Center is located at 1300 Pinehaven Road at Milepost 89 on the Natchez Trace Parkway. For more details call 601-924-2221.
