The Clinton Police Department, located at 305 Monroe Street in the Municipal Court Complex, exists to serve the members of our community in a productive partnership, working to provide professional public safety services that enhance the city’s quality of life. Through teamwork, we are dedicated to consistently providing exceptional service to those in need. We pledge to serve our community with honesty, fairness and integrity at all times.
Patrol DivisionThe Patrol Division is made up of officers who patrol the streets of the City and respond to calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The division is comprised of three shifts, each commanded by a lieutenant. A K-9 Unit is used to assist the Patrol Division in the fight against illegal substances. The K-9 Unit also performs public relations and educational demonstrations. A dedicated D.U.I. Enforcement Unit vigilantly enforces the State of Mississippi’s D.U.I. laws.TacticalThe Special Tactics and Rescue (S.T.A.R.) Team is comprised of twelve members of the Police Department and two Clinton Fire Department personnel who serve as team medics. The Explosive Ordnance Unit is trained to respond to and effectively deal with bomb threats and suspect devices. This unit is comprised of three Clinton Police Department officers and two Clinton Fire Department personnel.Detective DivisionThe department’s four investigators provide follow-up and specialized investigative services. An investigator responds to all major crimes.School ResourcesThe department has assigned patrol officers to work within the school system as school resource officers. These officers remain in the schools throughout the day, giving them the opportunity to develop positive relationships with the students and faculty. These officers have been specially trained to teach D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education). D.A.R.E. addresses substance abuse by teaching young people the skills necessary to recognize and resist peer pressures.Crime PreventionThe Clinton Police Department has several crime prevention programs available to the citizens of Clinton. Refuse to be a Victim is a program that explores what citizens can do to make it more difficult for a criminal to prey upon them. H.E.A.T. (Help End Auto Theft) is a volunteer decal program designed to reduce vehicle thefts in residential and commercial areas. Citizens that enroll in this program certify that their vehicle is not normally operated between 1:00 am and 5:00 am. Police officers that see vehicles with the H.E.A.T. decal between these hours are authorized to stop these vehicles and investigate. Community Watch is a program that teaches citizens techniques, such as how to recognize the risk of being victimized, the importance of recognizing suspicious activities and how to report them, and how to make their homes more secure. Community watch unites citizens to address issues that concern the entire community. 911 DispatchThe 911 Dispatch center provides public safety communications and dispatching services for the police and fire departments as well as ambulance services. A highly trained and capable civilian staff of call takers provides efficient services using state-of-the-art communications equipment.Records DivisionThe records division maintains and processes all crime and accident reports, as well as supporting documents generated by the department. This division is responsible for the proper distribution of certain reports to key personnel throughout the department. The public can also obtain copies of incident and accident reports through the Records Division.
